13th Annual Climb for Crossroad:
A Huge Success
The 13th Annual Climb for Crossroad took place on Saturday April 25, 2009. It was a beautiful, sunny, 80 degrees day. With Laure Quinlivan as our emcee again this year, Santa's Goody Bag Band started the 125 "climbers" on their way to the top of Prospect Hill where they enjoyed a spectacular view of Over-the-Rhine and downtown. A big thanks to Channel 12 news who provided coverage of the Climb and interviewed Dr. Jack Payne, a long time supporter of Crossroad and winner again this year of the coveted "Oldest Climber" prize. After the Climb, it was back to Crossroad for hot dogs and popcorn, entertainment, children's games, and door prizes, many donated by Over the Rhine businesses. We were blessed this year with the inspirational vocals of the Cincinnati Super Choir led by P. Ann Everson-Price and the Fellowship Singers led by John Scott. Magician Tom Bemes awed everyone with his doves. Sunrock Farms was on hand with baby goats, bunnies, pigs and chicks. And, as always, Lazarus kept the music going. New this year: A Health Fair that included a visit by Henry the Hand who taught us about the importance of hand washing. Tours of Crossroad's new state-of-the-art facility located on our recently renovated third floor were well received.”
