August Is Immunization Awareness Month

August is Immunization Awareness Month! Vaccines are one of the best ways to keep children healthy. Vaccines provide protection against infectious diseases and help to stop the spread of viruses and bacteria.

Ohio requires students (kindergarten through 12th grade) to be fully protected against these 10 vaccine-preventable diseases:

  • Diphtheria
  • Hepatitis B
  • Measles
  • Meningococcal
  • Mumps
  • Pertussis
  • Polio
  • Rubella
  • Tetanus
  • Varicella
