“I had thyroid cancer. That’s where my journey began.”
Casita, a Crossroad patient since 1998, credits her doctor with saving her life. After experiencing troubling symptoms that remained undiagnosed even after several visits to the ER, her Crossroad doctor quickly referred her to a specialist who treated her for a life-threatening condition. “We have a relationship,” she says. “He wanted to find out what was going on.” For Casita, her daughters and grandchildren, Crossroad is a true medical home. “This is the place we go. It’s a family thing.” |

“You just feel the love. It means everything to me.”
When Valerie’s young son was sick and having trouble breathing, she was frantic to get him into a doctor right away. After trying multiple clinics, she called Crossroad and he was seen the same day by a nurse practitioner. “Crossroad came through for us,” she says. As part of our whole-person care, another staff member helped her obtain health coverage for her son. “The care is great,” Valerie says. “It feels like home.” |

“Crossroad has been a medical home to me in many, many ways.”
Patricia was struggling with depression and anxiety. Her blood pressure was high and she did not have a regular doctor. “I couldn’t afford it,” she explains. Patricia was referred to Crossroad by a caseworker and met with one of our behavioral health counselors. Over time, she has made great strides. Today, her blood pressure is under control and she has lost weight. Best of all, she has learned how to tame her depression. “All of this has really changed me,” Patricia says. “I feel happy.” |
